Mère de la Terre et du Vent / by Chris Andrade

Commissioned to embody earth and wind Mère de la Terre et du Vent ( en. Mother of the Ground and Wind ), is the second of three contiguous permanent installations featuring works integrated fully in architecture. A wrap around design visually carries the eye through hues of blue green and browns via wind swept branches and foliage depicting mother, born from the earth and wind .

Mère de la terre et du vent (mother of the ground and wind) is a piece inspired by the beautiful resiliency of the Bristlecone pines of Great Basin National Park -- some of the oldest organisms on earth – and the towering ridges of Cathedral Gorge State Park, sculpted over thousands of years by the relentless forces of wind and water.
